Editorial Policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026

This policy explains how BabyU plans, researches, edits, and updates its articles. It applies to activity guides, tutorials, comparisons, buying guidance, and other editorial content on this site.

Our audience and purpose

BabyU serves parents, caregivers, and early-years professionals looking for practical ideas for babies and toddlers. Every article should help a reader make a safer, more informed choice or complete a real task. We do not publish pages solely to target a search phrase.

Source standards

Safety, health, feeding, and developmental claims require stronger evidence than a craft preference or cleanup tip. We give priority to primary and authoritative sources, including government safety agencies, pediatric organizations, public-health services, poison centers, universities, and recognized early-childhood organizations. A blog or retailer may help identify a product or activity variation, but it is not treated as the authority for a medical or safety claim.

Sources must support the statement beside them. Editors check that links open, the guidance is current, and the article does not turn a developmental milestone into a diagnosis or promise a developmental result from a single activity.

Practical value and original contribution

A useful BabyU guide goes beyond defining a topic. Depending on the subject, it should include materials, setup time, cost or reuse considerations, age and readiness checks, mess level, supervision needs, easier and harder variations, cleanup, and a way to choose among options. Repeated safety guidance may be summarized and linked rather than padded across several near-identical sections.

First-hand wording must be earned. We use phrases such as “tested at home” only when the test method, approximate age or readiness of the participant, materials, outcome, and limitations can be documented. Otherwise, the article describes the setup as an editorial recommendation and does not imply personal experience.

Product mentions, affiliate links, and advertising

Products are selected for relevance to the reader’s task, not because a brand pays for a favorable placement. If BabyU publishes affiliate links, receives a sample, accepts sponsorship, or has another material relationship, the relationship will be disclosed clearly on the affected page. Advertising does not give an advertiser control over editorial conclusions.

A “best” or “recommended” label must explain the criteria used. Price, availability, age grading, materials, cleanup, durability, and important drawbacks should be checked when they affect the decision. We do not invent product tests or customer experiences.

Illustrations

Illustrative images are used to make a setup easier to understand. Readers should rely on the written materials list and safety instructions, not assume that every visible object is suitable for every child.

Safety and scope

Content on BabyU is general educational information. It does not replace advice from a pediatrician, dietitian, occupational therapist, speech-language professional, or another qualified professional who knows the child. For suspected poisoning in the United States, contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or use the webPOISONCONTROL tool; elsewhere, contact the appropriate local service. Call emergency services for an emergency.

Medical review

BabyU articles are researched, written, and edited by the BabyU Editorial Team. The team does not currently include doctors or other licensed health professionals, and no article on BabyU is presented as medically reviewed. We are building a medical review board; once active, health-related articles will show the reviewing pediatrician’s name and license.

Updates and corrections

Articles are reviewed when guidance changes, a source moves, a product becomes unavailable, or a reader identifies a meaningful problem. Substantive reviews update the visible “Last updated” date. Silent changes are limited to spelling, punctuation, formatting, or a link that moves without changing the source.

Annual content audit: once a year, every published article is checked against current guidance from its sources, its links are tested, and articles that are outdated, duplicated, or no longer useful are updated, merged, or removed.

Send correction requests through the contact page. Please include the article URL, the passage in question, and a reliable source when available.
